How To Make Traditional Matcha Tea?


Matcha is considered much more than a drink and the tea ceremony is a beautiful and complex ritual designed to clear and relax the mind.


The traditional Japanese way of preparing matcha green tea requires the use of a matcha tea bowl, a bamboo whisk and a bamboo scoop .


If you don’t have the time or the traditional instruments, don’t worry. A cup, a spoon and a whisk or milk frother will do just fine


  1. Sift ½ tsp of Saikou Matcha into a tea bowl (adjust proportions to taste).
  2. Pour 2-3oz of hot (not boiling) water and whisk. Using boiling water will make it bitter.
  3. Once it becomes smooth and frothy, your matcha green tea is ready to drink.
